Vintage Poppies

Hi there it’s Elizabeth here.

Today I would like to share a project using the gorgeous Floral Vignettes Mixed Media Papers and Postcards.

IMGP0003 (154)

I chose a sheet from the 6″ Floral Vignettes Mixed Media Papers and also one of the gorgeous little Postcards both with the Sunflower design on them.

I painted over both with some watered down White GeeSoGood and left them to one side to dry. Next I stamped out three of the smallest Poppies from the Poppy Meadow Stamp set in Archival Jet Back ink and gave it a quick blast from the heat gun, before painting the Poppies with Banana Custard, Postbox Red and Burning Bonfire Cottage Garden Paint.

After making sure the Poppies were completely dry I cut them out and went around the edges with a soft pencil to get rid of the white edges.  I cut into the sheet of 6″ paper around some of the flowers and butterflies, so that they could be raised up using foam pads, and distressed the edge of the paper, and the postcard.

I fed the Poppy stems through the slits made in the flower petals, and arranged the Poppies with the Sunflowers using foam pads for dimension.

I also added foam pads to the back of the Butterfly wings and flowers, so that when the paper was glued down on to a 6″ white card base, they would remain raised.

I added some Copper fine glitter  (from the Indigoblu Super Fine Glitter Set Faded Glory) around the edge of the card, and once dry painted in a border with some watered down Goldfinger Metallic paint.

Then I added splatters of watered down Goldfinger Metallic Paint and GeeSoGood  before adding a border of Goldfinger Metallic Paint around the edge of the Postcard, and attaching it to the card using foam pads.

To finish the Poppies off I gave them a coat of watered down Goldfinger Metallic paint and added stamens to the centres using the Stazon Studio Glaze in Jet Black.

So there you have it, Vintage Poppies and the gorgeous new Floral Vignette Mixed Media Paper Stack.

See you soon, Elizabeth x
