Happy Easter

Morning everyone,

Hope you’ve had a lovely Easter weekend, with or without the chocolate!

I’m writing this before the weekend as I will be off on my jollies for a few days, so as you are reading this I’m probably sat in a field somewhere (or a pub), in the motorhome.

I’m sharing a card today that I made for Kay before I was even on the Design team, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually blogged it, and seeing as it’s Easter, and I love both of these stamps all year round, I thought I’d share it with you.

It’s using the very popular and pretty Ickle Poppy, and Easter Egg  stamps.  The Easter Egg  stamp is brilliant for all year round use, I love using the beautiful scrolls in it as edgings and borders, and in my jewellery.

I started by stamping Ickle Poppy directly onto a piece of white card.  It was then coloured in with promarkers, and masked, and the background coloured using distress ink.  I stamped it again onto a separate piece of card, coloured only the head of the poppy, and layered onto the stamped poppy, over the bud, so I had two open flowers.

The Easter Egg was also stamped onto separate card.  I had the idea to use it as a vase, then thought it would be even better if I ‘bit’ the top off the egg!  I used a scallop punch to make it look like a bite, and put the lid of the egg upside down next to it.  A bow was tied around the centre, hiding the original Happy Easter, and it was then layered over Ickle Poppy.

I stamped the egg again, but only took the ‘Happy Easter’ sentiment, cut it out, distressed it, and placed it to the left.

And this is the finished card:

Have a good week everyone,

Best Wishes,

Nikki K.
