Giant Peony card by Gez

Hi, I am delighted to be sharing my first step by step with you for IndigoBlu. This is a card I made for the UK trade show recently.

To begin with I chose a couple of sheets of the BRAND NEW mixed media papers, one from the {Emporium of Curiosities} range and a piece from the {Fontastic Ephemera} pack. These papers are a 190gsm and will stand up to allsorts!

I gave them a coat of watered down GeeSso Good! Gesso and left them to air dry.

Step 1

In the meantime, I stamped and embossed the gorgeous {Giant Peony} stamp onto one of the sheets and cut it out ready to add to my card.

Step 2

Before adding the ‘Giant Peony’ to my card. I distressed and machine stitched around the edges of the mixed media paper and mounted it onto black card.

Both the flower and the card were then sprayed with {Cinderella} acrylic paint from the IndigoBlu English Cottage Artists Acrylic paint range which I decanted into a spray bottle using a ratio of 5 parts water one part acrylic paint.

It is so easy to make your own spray inks from the English Cottage range as the paints are so high quality and artists grade.

Step 3

Next, it was time to mount the flower onto the card once the spray paint was dry. As you can see I further embellished the background of my card using the fabulous {Mesh stamp} from the gorgeous Rugged Edge set by Limor Webber and the {Chocolate Box} Mega Flakes, yummy!

I randomly stamped the text stamp from the {Sarah’s Choice} stamp set onto the background using {Jet Black} Stazon ink.

Added a length of lacy ribbon and the sentiment {Dream} also from Sarah’s Choice set.

The card was mounted up again onto another piece of mixed media paper after the Glossy Accents had dried over the sentiment, how hard is it to resist touching it to see if it has dried!!

Any stray flakes were removed using the {Whizzy Eraser} How AWESOME is that little gadget!

 Here’s a close-up of the details

As you can see I decided to mount the ‘Giant Peony’ onto 3D foam pads to add height, I love layers and textures. I think they add so much interest…

 my finished card…

Thank you for calling and leaving a comment if you get the chance. Be sure to check out the {NEW IN} pages over at IndigoBlu, it’s a REAL treasure trove!

  Happy creating, Gez
