Hi everyone and welcome to another Saturday here at IndigoBlu. I’m so excited to be able to continue sharing show samples with you today. Before taking a closer look, it’s time to tell you about the demonstrations taking place this weekend. IndigoBlu are out and about on Saturday 14th March from 10am to 4pm (unless otherwise stated);

And now for today’s project…

This is another of those 12 x 12 canvas pieces that were such great fun to create. I started with one of the sheets from the Emporium of Curiosities paper pack mounted on strong card and built from there. Having given it a light brush with white Gee-Sso Good! I set to work stamping Limor Webber Circles and Ink Splats using the English Cottage Artist’s Acrylic Paints . You’ll also spot the Ink Splat Butterfly in Chariot of Fire Mega Flakes and my favourite sentiment from the Becca stamp set. You’ll see I added lots of dry brushing and splattering with the gesso to soften the look too.

The ‘framed’ element in the middle of the canvas started life as a small box which was cut down and covered in a mix of Townhouse Teal, Peppermint Tea and Goldfinger paint. Having layered more papers from the same set inside (one of which was stitched around the border) with some gauze I had the perfect setting to capture those paper flowers, leaves and butterflies. In case you were wondering, the IndigoBlu papers will shape beautifully if you mist them with a little water first, and once dry will hold their shape. They even stood up to further misting with extra paint (Postbox Red, Pink Iced Gem and Goldfinger) and coped with lots of interested fingers when displayed at the NEC in February! The butterflies were die cut from card that had been covered with some left over FlitterGlu and Chariot of Fire Mega Flakes.

I hope you’ve got some more ideas for putting these new papers through their paces in your projects – don’t forget, you can find all of the collections HERE on the IndigoBlu website.

Thank you for joining me today. Whatever you’re up to I hope you have a great time and take care of yourselves,

Jenny x

  6. Wow, Jenny – love all the layers in different media! What is it about cheesecloth that just adds so much to a piece?! I am huge fan of the megaflakes,and thus also love your stamped image and those beautiful butterflies. This paper looks like a fabulous collection – I hope we have a chance to get them over here in the states. In the meantime, I am studying your flowers closely – they are gorgeous! Thanks for another great piece of inspiration – xx Lynn
