Butterfly beauty

Morning everyone, a nice sunny start to the week here, but I’ve heard it’s getting worse, lot’s of rain on the way – time to shut yourself in your craft room me thinks!

I hope you had a good weekend, I was at the NEC helping out, hope you got some nice goodies if you made it there.

Today I’m sharing another make from the Retreat a few weeks ago, a small framed canvas.

We started by covering the canvas in torn strips of newspaper, any old newspaper!  Just tear strips, and attach to the canvas with flitterglu.

Use two or three colours of cottage paint, and blend them in the middle, coating the canvas from top to bottom. More torn newspaper was put on, and then we added megaflakes in spaces where there was some sticky flitterglu left.   After that, we painted a final coat, watered down slightly, of the paints.  This lets a little paper show through.  The background was then stamped how we wanted.  I used Limor Webber Circles stamp.

Big butterfly and Jane were stamped on separate pieces of Indigoblu’s new card stacks, these are beautiful images and text in either 6×6 or 12×12 sizes.  They were heat embossed, and cut out.

I only used part of Jane, just her eyes, to layer on top of the butterfly wings.  A sentiment was added from Beautiful Mind, and also the lightbulb from the same stamp set.

So she is a bit quirky, but my kind of thing!  This canvas technique was brilliant, and gives you a really interesting space to work on.  It looks great in any colour, I went with my faves of rust colours.  You can use any of these techniques on cards as well, it doesn’t have to be canvas!

It was a brilliant weekend, make sure you check the Indigoblu website for future events – it’s a fab friendly weekend and definitely worth it.

Have a great week everyone,

Best Wishes,
