Let’s Here It For The Girls!

Hi everyone and welcome to another Saturday here at IndigoBlu. Today I’m continuing to share show samples with you today and this time you get four for the price of one! If you are heading down to ‘Stitches’ (the trade show at the NEC, Birmingham) 15-17 February you’ll get to see these in person and guess what, I’ll be demo’ing on the stand too!!! Can’t tell you how excited I am about this honour.

Now for those samples. They are actually a set of four framed mini ‘canvases’ using lots of lovely mixed media goodies. Each one began with some hexagon die cuts and a combination of white Gee-Sso Good!, Frosty Sky paint, Grandma’s Teacup paint, and Goldfinger paint. I used a sponge and some water to make sure they blended well. Next came stamping with the new Limor Webber Ink Splats using Hot Cocoa paint, and Limor Webber Rugged Edge using Chocolate Box Flakes and Park Lane paint. Having cut some more hexagon shapes from the new Vintage Memories paper collection a few were added randomly.

The girls themselves (Becca, Dianne, Lost in Thought and Caitlin) were stamped onto some of the plainer, lighter paper from the same collection using Distress Ink. The papers are just perfect for use with this sort of ink as you can drag out the colour using a water brush (just as you would do on watercolour paper). Having added shading to the main areas I added a darker border with ink and a water brush and repeated this process to parts of the hexagon shapes to give the illusion of a depth of dimension. To finish each ‘canvas’ I added hand moulded flowers and splattered a little more of that white gesso over the top.

Oh yes, and even the frame got a coat of Frosty Sky! How good that you can custom match frames to projects.

Even more show samples and ideas for using the new releases will be shared with you over the coming weeks from other members of the Design Team so keep watching for those. For now have a great weekend and whatever you’re up to take care of yourselves.
