Technique Day ….. can you resist?

Good morning! and a Happy Thursday to you,

It’s LindyLou here ….. it’s been a while I know.  Have you missed me?  Thought not ….. the rest of the Design Team have been doing a grand job on the blog.

I’ve been taking a break from my DT duties …… you know what it’s like, family commitments and day to day life in general seem to take over every now and then.   But, when Clare asked me if I’d like to Blog for my last scheduled Technique Day of the the year ……. how could I ‘resist’! (oh! bit of a bad link there – sorry!)

If you’re like me, and are still making last minute Christmas cards, I’ve got a quick and easy, but very effective design for you, using the gorgeous IndigoBlu Snowflake Lace background stamp and the ever popular Embossing Resist Technique.

008

This is so simple to do, and so much fun.

I started by stamping the Snowflake Lace across the corners of a piece of white cardstock, using Clear Versamark Ink.  I then sprinkled White Embossing Powder over the top and heat set it.

015

You can just about see the embossed areas in the picture above.

Choose the colour you want for your background ….. I went with blues, to give a nice icy look to my card but, you could just as easily use lilac or green or even red for a really striking contrast …… just go with your favourite colour.

Using 3 or 4 different shades start to build up the colour around the embossed snowflakes, start from the edges and work your way in, leaving the very centre of the card white.  As you apply the ink, the embossing acts as a resist, and the snowflakes will start to emerge from the background ……. magic!

016

Keep it as pale or as intense as you like ….. the darker you go with the ink around the snowflakes, the more they will show through

017

Once you’re happy with the colour,  take a clean piece of kitchen roll and buff over the surface of the snowflakes to remove any excess ink and really make them pop!

Mat and layer a couple of times with plain white card and attach to the front of a 6×6 square cardblank.

012

Stamp a festive greeting onto another piece of white card and cut out ……. I’ve used one of the sentiments from the IndigoBlu Seasons Greetings stamp set

018

Ink around the edges a little, and mat onto more white card before adding it onto your snowy background

010

I finished off with a glittery die cut snowflake,  a pretty embellishment from my stash …….

011

and touches of fine crystal glitter here and there for added frosty sparkle ……

You all know I like to add a little something to the inside of my cards, so for this one I stamped and embossed more snowflakes and used the Distress Inks again

Hope you like it!

Don’t forget our latest Blog Challenge is still open …… and the theme this month just happens to be Let It Snow!  You’ve still plenty of time to get your entries in and be in with a chance of winning that fabulous prize.

Well that’s about it from me ……. thanks for visiting the IndigoBlu DT Blogs during the last year, and for all your lovely comments …… the Design Team really appreciate each an every one of you taking the time to visit and it’s always nice to hear what you think.

The only thing left for me to do now is, to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.  Enjoy the festive season and hopefully I’ll see you all again in 2015!

Thanks for popping by ….. enjoy the rest of your day, and stay warm!!

Cheerio for now

LindyLou xx
