Have Yourself A…

Hi everyone and welcome to another regular Saturday instalment here at IndigoBlu. It’s ridiculous, a huge chunk of the way through December and I’m still getting Christmas cards done! Am I the only one? Gosh, hope not! I can well see why lots of busy designers end up buying cards despite having made so many during the year.

So today I’m sharing another card with a real vintage feel that really makes the most of those gorgeous Mega Flakes and will hopefully give you ideas if, like me, you are still completing that card ‘to do’ list.

Have Yourself A 1

To start this card I stamped A6 ‘Snowflake Lace‘ in brown archival ink all over a square piece of white card. Next came various blended Distress Inks (Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Vintage Photo) with the lighter ones in the centre and the darker shades around the edges. To finish the background I used the edge of a Slim Jim acrylic block to add lines of FlitterGlu, then covering them in ‘Yorkshire Dales‘ Mega Flakes.

With the base sorted I used up some bits and pieces left over from demo’s and samples over the past few months. The Dinkie ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas‘ looks so special on black card when teamed with ‘Chocolate Box‘ Mega Flakes and provided the perfect centrepiece around which to collect other elements. The same flakes were teamed with the A6 ‘Holly Berry‘ on black card before being fussy cut, and these were then cut apart and layered onto vellum die cut holly leaves and some ribbon from my stash. Some splatters of ‘Peppermint Tea‘ paint and ‘White Gee-Sso Good!‘ underneath these sprigs added that little touch of detail.

That’s all from me for now. Hope you have a great weekend and whatever you’re up to, take care of yourselves.

  1. Sorry for being a bit late…. your background is a masterpiece, you are so clever with your slim jims! The colours are fantastic and the holly and sentiment toppers are beautiful finishing touches. Love this – a lot! Anne xx
