Oh Deer!

Hi everyone and welcome to my regular Saturday instalment here at IndigoBlu. My goodness, November is nearly over, there are only three weeks of school left for littlies and I can’t be alone in having received my first Christmas card!!! Today I’m sharing a vintage style Christmas card using some of those older releases.

Before I show you the card, let’s start by giving you a ‘heads up’ about the IndigoBlu demos taking place this Saturday 29th November; Melanie Torley will be at Burnside Garden Centre, Blackpool; Cheremane Smith will be at Holland Arms Garden Centre, Anglesey; Clare Horner will be at Wilmslow Garden Centre, Wilmslow; Nikki Killinger will be at Weaverdale Garden Centre, Winnington; Sarah Allan will be at Mayfield Garden Centre, Kelso; Maxine Jones will be at Daisy’s Jewels and Crafts, Coventry; and Lydia Tarry will be at Poppycraft, Wallingford.

Et moi? As this goes live I’ll be teaching a workshop session at our Retford HQ today where we’ll be having lots of fun creating some freshly designed cards.

Now for that card…

Oh Deer 1

The background stayed simple with the A6 Snowflake Lace background stamped in Fern Green Archival Ink on white card with the edges blended using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

Over that I used the edge of my Slim Jim acrylic block to add some Hot Cocoa English Cottage Artist’s Acrylic Paint stripes. The brown rectangular panel that looks a little like woodgrain is actually Brushed Corduroy Distress Stain dragged across more card.

I love the drama that the A6 Stag Night image gives you. This time I used Red Geranium Archival Ink to stamp it before colouring the stag with more Brushed Corduroy Distress Stain (with a Glossy Accents highlight) and painting the tree with Pine Needles Distress Ink. The edges were distress in the same way as the background.

Oh Deer 4

Next some holly and ivy; I love the small and large versions in the A5 Retro Christmas set. They were stamped in Jet Black Archival Ink with Peeled Paint Distress Ink over and of course completed with those red Glossy Accented berries.

Oh Deer 5

The Dinkie Merry Christmas Circle, stamped in Fern Green Archival Ink and aged with the same Gathered Twigs Distress Ink, completed the vintage look.

Oh Deer 6

It’s always good to be able to combine older designs with the newer releases and IndigoBlu make it so easy with that continuing addition of detailed snowflakes running throughout.

Well that’s all from me for now. Hope you have a great weekend and whatever you’re up to, take care of yourselves.

Jenny xxx
