Step by Step Autumn Shaker Card

Step by Step Autumn Shaker Card

Hi everyone, Sarah here with a wee step by step shaker card tutorial.

Shaker cards are in trend at the moment, and perfect timing with Christmas just around the corner, I have based my shaker card on the current season Autumn / fall.. such a lovely colourful time of year!

My post is quite long today with loads of pictures, so why not grab your self a cuppa and a wee biscuit and enjoy 🙂

Step 1 Apply a teaspoon of Flitterglu to your phat foam and work in with your spatula.

step 1

Step 2 – Take a Tall card blank 10.5 x 21cm and also cut 2 pieces for the front of your card 10 x 20cm.

step 2

Step 3 – Take a spare piece of cardstock and swipe your phat foam (with glue) across the whole surface of the cardstock.

step 3

Step 4 – Remove the lid from your chocolate box mega flakes (drool over the gorgeous-ness) and apply directly onto the flitterglued cardstock

Step 5 Once you have applied the flake to the cardstock, take your scoochie foam, polish and remove the excess flake

step 5

Step 6 Now you have a lovely polished piece of gilded cardstock..

step 6

Step 7 – Take some nesting circle dies and a roll of washi tape

step 7

Step 8 – We are now going to create window borders for the front of our card..

step 8

Step 9 – Remove your die cut circle frames from the dies and ink the edges inside and outside to take away the white and blend them in with the flake.

step 11

Step 10 –  Place your circle dies onto the pre cut/measured card panel and run through your die cutting machine

step 10a

Step 11 – Glue your circle frames onto the front panel to give your newly cut windows some frames

step 12

Step 12 – Your panel should now look something like this… and set aside

Step 13 – Recycle some old craft packaging, this is going to become our windows of the shaker card.

Step 14 – Apply double sided tape to the plastic packaging windows and fix down to the card panel.

step 15

Step 15 – Take some foam dimensional tape and apply directly around the windows and fill with glitter / sequins / glitter glass or whatever you have to hand.

We also need to stamp some  images that you will be able to see through the windows.. I have chosen stamps from the Nature I and Nature II stamp sets, although you could adapt this to any stamps you have to hand,  background stamps would be lovely too!

Remove all the backing to the foam tape and apply a second piece of blank cardstock (the same size) over the top to seal everything in.

step 16

Step 16 -I decided that the front panel of the card looked a tad bare and needed something, so I popped in the inner card circles to protect the windows and I flicked over some watered down vintage photo distress ink

step 17

Step 17 Take the sentiment stamp from Nature I stamp set and stamp with Jet Black Stazon, cut out and attach to the scrap piece of cardstock that we applied the mega flake to earlier..

step 20

Step 18

Attach to the front of the card – take a small heart punch and punch out of the same gilded card and apply to the centre bottom of the card and that’s us done, and the card all finished.

I love how the glitter sparkles in the sunshine 🙂
