Getting Glossy

Hi everyone, Jenny here with my (now) regular Saturday post. Let’s start by giving you a ‘heads up’ about the IndigoBlu events taking place this Saturday 4th October; Maxine Jones will be at Home Grown Crafts in Harwich, Essex; Su Roberts will be at Endsleigh Garden Centre, Ivybridge (near Plymouth); Kay Halliwell-Sutton will be at The Happy Stampers Show, Port Sunlight; and moi? I’ll be at the Percy Thrower Garden Centre, Shrewsbury. Think you’ll agree we’re getting about a bit!!! A bit further north? OK, can do – Melanie Torley will be at Crafty Company, Fleetwood on Thursday 9th October. Phew! More demo’s coming in future weeks but if you can’t wait to find out what’s on head over to the Events Tab on the IndigoBlu website.

Right, now you’ll be wanting to see a card from me too I guess…

Baubles 1

This was a lovely card to put together and made use of a trip to the DIY store, but first, the background. Keeping it simple I stamped the Snowflake Lace background stamp over a piece of card with grey archival ink. Yep, this stamp is definitely an all time favourite!

Baubles 2

To really emphasise the detail of the Teardrop Baubles I stamped them onto navy card with FlitterGlu and added Winter Dawn Mega Flakes. Having fussy cut them I added Glossy Accents over the top to give them more dimension.

Baubles 3

A little matting and layering always helps to link colours together and provides strong borders. I used a silver gel pen to draw another border around the central navy panel.

Baubles 4

Finally I needed to ‘hang’ those baubles. This is where the DIY store came in. Ball chain is sold there pretty cheaply (and is more commonly used to stop your plug disappearing from the side of the sink) and is great for adding a decorative touch.

Baubles 5

Hope you liked this idea for a Christmas card with a touch of DIY chic!

Now it’s over to you. I’m running a one day workshop on 29th November making IndigoBlu Christmas cards and want to hear from you with suggestions for previous cards/styles that you’ve seen and would love to recreate. Time to get those thinking caps on peeps!

OK, time to go demo! Hope you have a great weekend and whatever you’re up to, take care of yourselves.

Jenny xxx

  2. A stunning card Jenny, I love how you put the Glossy Accents over the Flittering – bet it looks even more gorgeous in real life. I managed the briefest of hellos with Kay at Port Sunlight, she was being mobbed on the IB stand! I have not signed up (yet!) for the class but I do love Kay’s wonderful bauble stamp with the gorgeous flourish on top. I would love to see you work your magic with that one… Anne xx
