A little bit spooky. .

Morning everyone,

I hope you’ve had a good weekend.  I took over an overgrown allotment about a week ago, and I know it’s spider season, but I’ve never seen anything like some of the beasts that came crawling out of the long grass!

I decided to go for the slightly spooky today, and although not a spider, it’s on the same stamp plate,  Hocus Pocus.

And it’s a little different offering, I have made a necklace, using the Rue Romantique Heart shaped bezel.  First I coloured some Indigoblu perfect stamping card with spiced marmalade distress ink, making the edges a little darker.  I then stamped the crow on his book perch onto the card.

To make a template for the bezel,  I simply inked the front of the bezel and stamped it upside down onto a piece of acetate.  If you use stayzon you get a permanent image which you can cut out and use as a template each time.

Once the card is cut, glue it into the bezel with a little flitterglu.  Then seal the image in, with Slap it on, making sure to coat it well.  this stops the resin seeping into the picture and making it look wet.  Sometimes that’s a nice technique, but in this I wanted to preserve the image.

Once sealed and dry, I took some Ice Resin, mixed according to the instructions, and poured a layer into the bezel carefully.  I added a little glass glitter in gold, to give a little sparkle.  I left it 8 hours to dry, and then added a layer to dome the resin, and cover the glitter.

I absolutely love Crows, this is one of my favourite stamps, and now this is one of my favourite necklaces.

The Rue Romantique Bezels are all stunning, great quality and just that little bit vintage that looks so good with anything in them.  You can see just how clear the Ice Resin is as well, it’s a jeweller’s grade resin, and the light just bounces off the surface.

If you want to learn more about Ice Resin, or come and have a fun day and go home with two pieces of jewellery for yourself, you can join me on October 11th at Indigoblu HQ, for a whole day of playing with Ice Resin, paint techniques, flitterglu and flake, and basic jewellery techniques.  Just hop across here to book.

I will also be doing a free demo day at Strikes Klondyke Garden Centre, Brookside, Poynton, SK12 1BY on Saturday 13th September, with all the new Indigoblu releases, metallic paints (fab new colours), and stamps, and lots of great techniques to show you.  Hope you can join me there.

Well I’m off to make more magic… well alright, a cup of tea..  Have a lovely week all.

Best Wishes,

Nikki K. xx
