Technique Thursday……..Vintage Tag

Good Morning all and welcome to Technique Thursday,

I thought I would show you something a little bit different from me today…. as you know by now that I love playing with embossing powders and resisting with inks and paints but I had a play around with paint and stamps when I was making some samples for Kay last week and I really liked the vintage looking result that I got through using paint and stamps and debossing in to the paint and then ageing it with a contrasting colour. So here goes this is how I did it…….

First of all I cut a tag shape from a piece of white card and then painted it all over thickly with IndigoBlu Ruby Slippers Metallic Paint….

I then used my IndigoBlu Dinkie Holly Flourish to stamp in to the paint and remove some of it to give it a debossed look, you need to clean the stamp with a baby with about every three stamp impressions….

You can see close up how deep the stamped impressions go, then dry with a heat tool to matt the paint down….

Then take some IndigoBlu Goldfinger Metallic Paint and a brush, add a small amount on to the brush and drag in to the debossed areas. Immediately wipe off any excess with a dry piece of kitchen towel. Once you have covered all the debossed areas drag the remainder of the paint on the brush (quite dry) up and down the tag to give it a vintage look…..

You can see close up how aged the areas look, I really like this look…..

Next using the Diamond Stencil and the dry brush add a little more Goldfinger and stipple through the stencil at the bottom corner of the tag, repeat with the top and the drag the excess paint off of the tag with clean kitchen towel to give a really soft aged look….

Now to add a feature on the vintage background……I next took my Dinkie Teardrop Bauble ( I love this stamp and you will see me do a lot more with it) and stamped and embossed it with gold embossing powder. I then made a watery wash from the Ruby Slippers paint and painted over the top of the baubles and wiped away the excess ( they look a little messy at this point but bear with me :0) …

I then cut the baubles away and attached them to my tag adding some gold ribbon to hang them on and then matted and layered the tag on to gold mirri then vintage gold card…..

Lastly I added a gold silk ribbon bow to the top of the tag……
