Technique Day with Laura: Stamping on acetate

Hi everyone it’s been a while!

I’m back today with a little step by step card for you. I created this on my demonstration day a few weeks back and the ladies really liked it so I thought I’d share with you today.

To start with I have used a 6×6 card blank and cut a frame to fit the card so it has a small border around the edge.  I then cut a piece of acetate to fit inside the frame, make sure you leave room to stick it down so that the glue/tape will not show.

I then used the totally gorgeous flutterby-dinkie stamp and inked it up with a Staz-on Jet Black ink pad.

I carefully stamped the butterfly onto the acetate. Be careful not to over ink the stamp as it is easy to smear when stamping onto acetate. Do not fear if this happens, as you can clean it off with a paper towel soaked in Stazon stamp cleaner and then try again once it has dried.

Once the ink was dry so I would not smear it I turned the acetate over. Taking the amazing Indigoblu English Cottage paint‘s in wimberry pie, pink ice gem and postbox red colours. I wanted a darker pink so I mixed a little postbox red with the pink ice gem to make a bright pink colour that I was happy with. Did you know that the IndigoBlu paints mix together to create other amazing colours?

You don’t have to be good at colouring or painting to do this as you can see my painting is not neat and tidy at all.  Cut a smaller frame to go inside the purple backing layer and stamp all around it with the script background stamp.

Layer everything together, and add 3d foam to the back to raise it off the base card layer, this will add a little interest to the piece.

Finally place it on the card, hope you’ve enjoyed my post today hope to see you soon
