Morning all,  monday again, nice and sunny here, hope it’s the same where you are.  I had a fab weekend demonstrating again at Brookside Garden Centre in Poynton on Saturday, great to see new faces and some old friends.  Marie who runs the shop is a lovely host, and very helpful, so if you are in the area pop in and say hi to them.

When I was demonstrating how to paint Altered ego’s a week or so ago, I used a piece of card under them to stop paint spreasding all over my mat, I get in a bit of a mess otherwise..  I sprayed the altered ego cogs and gears, and had already used the piece of card to show a rust technique, so ended up with a mix of lovely colours and shapes left by the gaps in the gears.

I thought it was too nice to waste, so cut it out to card size, and saved it for later.

All I have added to this card is the distressed layered background, and dinkie flutterby stamp, which is coloured in the cottage paints, the same as the background, and then distressed with vintage photo ink, as are the edges of the painty panel.  I dripped a little water over the distressing to age it more.

The butterfly is stuck on with pinflair, and an altered ego cog added to the body.

I didn’t feel this needed anything else, and I might be on my own here, but I really liked this background!

Of course it’s upcycling as well, and not wasting a single bit of card.

Here it is finished:

All that’s left for me to say is have a lovely week, I will be scheduling my next few posts or swapping, as I’m off to Scotland at the end of this week for two weeks, just mooching around in our van.

Best Wishes,

Nikki K.

  2. A brilliant card Nikki! Love the mix of colours and shapes you got by chance and using the butterfly to complete your card was inspired. Love it! Jenny x
