Something for the guys ……

Morning folks,

Happy Wednesday!  Only 2 more sleeps then the old craft room door is closing for a few days.  I’m away on holiday …. yeah!!!  Fingers crossed the weather holds for the rest of the week, we’re on the ferry on Friday morning …….  and it’s Friday the 13th!   Not that I’m superstitious or anything but I’m hoping for a nice calm day …… I don’t do ‘bumpy’ water!

It’s nearly that time of the year when we all have to bite the bullet and come out of our comfort zone (well some of us do anyway) and make cards for those men in our lives …… Father’s Day’s here again!   I’ve said before that I don’t really do ‘men’s stuff’ ……. but I seem to have done quite a few bits and pieces lately that would be perfect for Dad’s, Brother’s,  Grandad’s …… any of those masculine family members and friends.

I find keeping things simple is the way to go for men ……. you’ll find lots of fabulous images within the IndigoBlu stamp range, that you can use on their own, or use two or three together and do a spot of scene building as I’ve done here …..

Add some nice words on there, and use the brand new Design Alphabet to personalise your project and job’s done ….. simples!

I started by stamping the word ‘Dad’ on the bottom of a piece of white cardstock, cut to fit on the front of an A5 cardblank..  If you’re not confident about stamping the letters in a perfect straight line then don’t …… stamp each letter at an angle, slightly out of line and the end result looks like it was meant to be crooked …..

Using my scoreboard, I embossed a couple of  lines above, to seperate the  bottom section from the main design and added a bit more interest around the word using the ink splats from the Ledger Background

I masked off the bottom, close to the embossing, and then added colour to the rest of the card using Distress Inks – Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Gathered Twigs and a touch of Aged Mahogany.

I did my usual flicking water thing to give that nice aged look.

The Dinkie Penny Farthing (love this stamp!) and the trees from Grand Tour III  make up the little scene.

You can see I’ve added in a splash of colour with the trees ……

and a few more inks splats around the sentiment …….

I’ve carried on the theme on the inside of the card using the same Distress colours and stamping the main image slightly off the edge.

Well that’s Father’s Day sorted …….. back to the holiday packing I think!

Thanks for popping by ….. enjoy the rest of the day and have a great week.

See you next time!

LindyLou xx
