Something Fishy!

Morning all, hope you had a good weekend with the lovely weather.  We went for a walk yesterday and the field was so pretty that we walked through, I did sneeze a few times though!  I’m lucky not to suffer from hayfever, but can imagine that the weather is not so good for some people.

It truly was spectacular out yesterday though:

My post today isn’t related, although I nearly did go with the yellow theme again, it’s so sunny!  But I thought I would bring you another piece from Kay’s Indigoblu show the other wednesday, from the fabulous ‘Under the Sea’ stamp set.  The sentiment really rings true for me being originally from the seaside.

The frame is from the Indigoblu shop, it’s in mdf and is great for making little scenes.  I started by painting it with white gee so good, and then townhouse teal cottage paint on the front of the frame.  On top of that, I used Kroma Crackle, just on it’s own, as it dries white naturally.  This was then sealed with Slap it on.

I used a hessian background, and painted gee so good over, but left a straggly edge to show the hessian.  Elements of Under the sea were stamped and coloured with distress inks, and the fish and seahorse have been coated with glossy accents.   I stamped and layered the grasses in the frame to give a 3d effect.

The fishes bubbles, and the sentiment were stamped in versafine sepia onto tissue, and sealed on top with slap it on.  Finally I added some real shells, and some sea glass I found the week before on Charmouth beach in Dorset (where I grew up),  and stamped over the Kroma crackle with the dinkie stitched curls stamp.

Right, well I think I might be heading off into the back garden again today, it’s too nice to be indoors!

Have a lovely day,

Best Wishes,

Nikki K.

xx
