Technique Day …….

Good morning everyone,

It’s going to be one of those days ……….. let the celebrating begin.  Happy Birthday to Me!  Happy Birthday to Me! ……..  not forgetting my fellow teamie Clare, yes it’s her birthday too!  Happy Birthday hun …. have a great day.

I’ve got a quick post for you today, not the usual step by step technique post I’m afraid …. things are a little busy in the old craft room this week …… Kay’s back on the telly at the weekend (more about that later).

I’ve got one of my favourite colour combinations that I always turn to when Mr Mojo is playing up, and I’m struggling to come up with ideas.  I’m not sure if you can class this as a ‘technique’ really but it’s helped me out on so many occasions, it’s so simple and always looks great.

Black, white and a touch of colour ………

People do struggle sometimes with colour ….. what goes with what, can I put blue and green together, does this shade match with this one ……. If I’m having trouble choosing then this is what I fall back on.  I tend to choose RED quite a bit (as you’ve probably noticed)….. but you can go for any colour, pink is another nice option, or blue even.

For my card today I’ve used the beautiful Miss Austen stamp ….. I loved the original stamp that came on the Mr Darcy set, but the latest version is stunning …. you get all the fancy framework around her, and she’s bigger!

1.   Start by choosing your image, stamp it in the centre of a piece of white card using a black ink.  Choose which part of the image you want to add the colour to and stamp this again.   Add your colour, using markers, paints, pencils, whatever you’re comfortable with ….. it could be a single flower, a flourish or as I’ve done here,  the flower in her hair and her lips and cheeks

DSCF63732.   Die cut your coloured image and mat and layer using black cardstock, and your chosen colour.  Mount this over the top of the full stamped image using foam pads.

3.  Keep the rest of your card simple ….. you want your coloured piece to be the focal point.

I used part of the new Rose Blush stamp to add some detail to the corners …….  (second generation stamping)

4.   Mat and layer using black cardstock and your chosen colour, and you’re done!

This colour combination works everytime …….  here’s a few more ideas.  Using the new Beautiful Mind stamp set ……

And it’s good for anytime of the year  ……. a great look for Christmas cards (Stag Cliffhanger stamp)

I did say I like to use red as my accent colour, but for a softer look why not use pink …….

A pretty, more feminine look using the new Rose Blush (this stamp has been added to my favourites list!)

Well I hope I’ve given you some ideas for when your Mr Mojo goes AWOL .

I mentioned that Kay is back on our screens again ….. book the sofa and the remote control for Create & Create, Sunday 9th March at 9am and 3pm.  There’s new stamps and lots of other goodies to.  In fact, those eagle-eyed amongst you may have already spotted the new stamps on the IndigoBlu website ….. what do you think?

And don’t forget our latest challenge is up and running ….. Going for Gold.  Have you got your entry in yet?

Thanks for popping by today.  Enjoy the rest of your week.  I’m off now to finish up in the old craft room then I’m off out to play this afternoon.  It’s coffee and cake and a lovely craft workshop.  And, I don’t  need to cook this evening either ….. hubby’s taking me out for dinner.  Not a bad day at all!

Cheerio until next time

LindyLou xx
