Memory Book Box

Happy Wednesday everyone,

The festive season is well and truly underway here,  the Christmas spirit has definitely started to flow!!!!!  Finally getting to the end of the Christmas cards too – yeah!!  Now I just have to write the things and get them in the post.

Did you all manage to see Kay on the telly last weekend?  What do you think of the new stamps and the brand new stencils and Alter Egos?  Great or what!  I’m going to have fun with those.

The rest of the DT did a great job on the samples too …… did you spot the ones from our newest member Laura.  Welcome to the team hun, it’s nice to have you on board.

I thought I’d move away from the Christmas theme today and share one of my samples from the show.  Here’s my Memory Book Box done using the Loud Music stamps,  Flutterby and the English Flourish

My idea was to make a Memory Box with a music theme.  Something to keep the sheet music from a wedding in there, or the words to that first song you and your partner danced too,  or maybe your mother’s/grandmother’s favourite song.   Hey!!  look at me going all sentimental.

I started by painting the box, inside and out, using the IndigoBlu English Cottage Artist’s Acrylic Paints.  For the outside cover, I used a sponge to apply the paints and blend them together, then I added touches of the Kroma Crackle here and there and left it to dry overnight

I’ve used one of those fabulous  Flourish Alter Egos on the front – painted it the same as the box and added a touch of the Mega Flakes then attached it to the front of the book

I decide to keep the glass in the aperture on the front cover so everything is protected

but you could choose to leave the glass out and have a bit more dimension in there – the wings on the butterfly for instance could be raised or you could put flowers in there, the possibilities are endless.

There’s quite a bit going on inside the box ……

It’s all been painted, this time with just one colour and I’ve added a touch of Distress ink around the edges to give a worn look.

I’ve put some sheet music in there,  and tiny trinkets from my stash

There’s some flowers and metal embellies …….

There’s a pretty tag in there and another of the Alter Ego Flourishes ……… You can put in whatever you like.

Hope you like it.

Well, it’s back to the craft room this afternoon.  I’ve got a workshop to prep for next week …….. I’m off to a craft group on the island and we’re going to be spending the afternoon making IndigoBlu Christmas Baubles and Tags.  I’ll let you know how it went next week.

Thanks for popping by today.  Enjoy the rest of your week.

Cheerio for now
