You’re my B.F.F.

Happy Wednesday everyone,

Hope you’re well.  It’s a little bit chilly on the Isle of Man today, the wind is blowing.  Never mind, at least it’ll get the washing dry, and it gives me a good excuse for spending the day in the old craft room.  Just as well really as there’s a magazine deadline fast approaching!  More about that some other time.

I’ve got another of my show samples for you today ……… using Baby Aloysius (truth is I haven’t had time to play with anything new!)

This was made for the show back in September

How cute is this little guy?!  I just love him ……. I think he’s one of those stamps that is useful for so many different occasions.  The obvious one being new baby, but there’s also Christenings, children’s birthdays, grown up birthdays (everyone loves their teddy bear),  the dreaded men’s cards, or just a card to say Hello. I think he’d brighten anyone’s day.

I kept my design quite simple, the hardest part was all the matting and layering.  I used one of my favourite colour combos – black and white with just a hint of colour, and the added touch of the gilding flakes just makes the card that bit more special.

I cut the four squares from IndigoBlu White Stamping card, then stamped Baby Aloysius onto each one, changing where I placed him slightly on each square (just look at that face ……)

I then used a piece of phat foam with the Flitter Glu and ran it around the edge of each square.  You don’t have to be too precise with this, if you only want a fine edge don’t put too much pressure on.  I quite like the uneven distressed look, so I was a little more heavy handed in places.  I then dipped the edges into Chariot of Fire Mega Flakes, rubbed off the excess and then finshed with the scoochy sponge.  You’re left with a nice gold border around the edge, giving the look of an extra layer of card.

I cut a large square of white IndigoBlu stamping card to mount the four squares onto, and used the chequerboard from the Itsy Bitsy Backgrounds stamp set to add a little more interest.

The sentiment is from the B.F.F. stamp set, stamped onto Indigoblu Black Stamping card using the Flitter Glu and Flakes again.  It’s then be cut out using a Spellbinders Circle die and layered onto the matching scalloped circle.

In true LindyLou fashion, I’ve finished the inside of the card to match ……..

I love this sentiment, again from the B.F.F. set and I think the little peeking bear just adds the perfect finishing touch.

Hope you like him.

There’s a busy weekend coming up at IndigoBlu HQ …….. it’s the 4 day Retreat!!  Unfortunately I can’t make it to this one (really sad face!!)   If any of you are lucky enough to be going along you’re going to have an absolutely fabulous time – I’m soooo jealous!   The projects for the 4 days are amazing, you’ll be surprised how much you can fit into one day (Kay’s a real slave driver – only joking!!)   Have a great time,  and say Hello to Kay and the gang for me won’t you.

Don’t forget too, we have a new challenge starting on the 21st.  Don’t panic though there’s still time to get your entries in for this month’s.  The theme is ‘Things With Wings’ and you’ve got until 8pm on Sunday 20th to create something fab.

Thanks for popping by today.  Enjoy the rest of the week and I’ll see you all again soon.

  5. Hi Linda.

He’s a real cutie. I especially like the way you’ve got him peeking out almost from behind the card 🙂 And on the lovely insert too. I’ll get into trying the flakes soon.

Note to myself after seeing this, make effort on my inserts.
