Retreat and New Challenge blog!

Morning everyone, I hope you’ve all had a good weekend.  I was crafting away at the Indigoblu Retreat, at their HQ in Retford, Notts.

I would just like to say a massive thankyou to Kay, Alfie, and all of the Indigoblu team, ‘front line’ and behind the scenes, for making the weekend possible and so much fun.

The good news is, keep your eyes open, in about a weeks time Kay will be announcing the dates for next Spring’s retreat, which promises to bring new projects, great techniques, and bags of fun!

In the meantime, to keep you busy, the Indigoblu Monthly Blog Challenge has now moved, and has it’s own spot!  This month the theme is ‘Chocolate Orange’, which this month was my choice, as I thought of October being time to be warm indoors with a mug of cocoa, or outside by a roaring bonfire. Of course this reminds me of the Indigoblu Cottage paint range as well, and the Autumn colours.  It start’s on the new blog today, and on the 21st of each month thereafter, and you have a whole month to submit something delicious to win some great Indigoblu products.  The new Challenge blog is here.  There are some cards from the Design team to inspire you.

Of course, Indigoblu still have the main blog, full of inspirational idea’s, projects, how to’s, with weekly separate posts from the Design Team, and What’s on information so you know when Indigoblu will be visiting somewhere near you, or hosting classes in the great new classroom at the lovely factory shop.

I had an amazing time at the weekend, it was lovely to see familiar faces and meet new fellow crafters, and the projects were out of this world. Here are a couple of pics from me of my first project, I chose rusty, steampunk colours and style, but the variations in people’s work was amazing, and I know Kay will post some pictures at some stage either on facebook or the website/blog.

The butterfly was stamped onto acetate and coloured with the cottage paints, as was the book cover. I added painted lace, cog pieces (these are exciting and coming soon). . and embellishments from my own stash, such as the mini lightbulbs and some rusty old car parts!

Inside a smaller frame houses a battery operated candle, held in with Velcro. I haven’t finished the inside of my project yet, as I wanted to embellish it further, but you can see some stamped cogs, and the rusty old cogs. The light shines beautifully through the butterfly wings of an evening.

Well I hope you all have a great week, and don’t forget to hop straight over to the Challenge blog, please please enter, we love to see your work, and there are great prizes from Indigoblu.

Best Wishes,

Nikki

    • Hi Linda, it was brilliant, I had paint from head to toe, it was lovely to see people and catch up, and very relaxing crafting, when I had stopped stressing over painting the acetate! I love the large butterfly too, and it looks brilliant on this project, has pride of place in the living room. xx

  4. What a brilliant project Nikki, I love the idea of having the battery operated candle on the inside I would never have thought of it, I bet this idea would look great with a Christmas scene too. So happy everyone had a great time last weekend.
