A bit too much of the Christmas spirit ……… ????!!

Happy Wednesday everyone,

I hope you’re all well, and have managed to stay safe and warm during the bad weather that’s been hitting the UK.  It’s not been too bad over here, we’ve had the wind and a bit of rain but nothing like you guys across the water.  Keep cosy and warm in the craft room is my advice …… perfect crafting weather.

I’ve been busy this week making samples for the show at the NEC, I’ve just a couple to finish off today then they can all go into the hands of the Royal Mail and hopfully get to Kay for the weekend.  Unfortunately I can’t make the show this time.  I’m gutted as it’s one of my favourite’s of the year.   If you’re lucky enough to be going say ‘Hi’ to Kay and the gang for me, I believe the lovely Nikki, our Ice Resin Queen is going to be there demonstrating.  Pop along and take a look at what you can create using this fabulous product.

I couldn’t decide what to share with you today ……. there’s a bit of everything on my work desk at the moment.  There’s Halloween stuff (mwahhahahah!!!!),   pretty everyday stamps (I’m trying to decide on my favourites ….. for a future project), and of course there’s still Christmas on there  (I really must make a start on this years cards!).  In the end I decided to go with Sleeping George, this time with a bit of a humourous, grown up twist!

I think he’s had a bit too much of the Christmas spirit ….. don’t you!! (admit it …. we’ve all been there!)

The idea for this came from …… I think it was one of the camera crew at Create & Craft, who said ‘it looks like he’s drunk’ when Kay launched the stamps back in September.  Not how the stamp is supposed to be used, I know, but I like it!

It’s a really quick and easy design, perfect for a guy.  I chose to make a large 8×8 card but you could make it smaller if you prefer.

The background panel is just a square of IndigoBlu Coal Black Stamping card, and I’ve stamped the ink splats from the Ledger Background stamp on two of the corners, using Versamark ink.  I’ve then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder to bring out the design a little.

I’ve then used one of my current favourite techniques, using the Flitter Glu and Flakes.  I’ve just run the piece of Phat Foam along all 4 sides of the black card, then dipped each one into Sheffield Steel flake.  I’ve then scoochied off the excess and I’m left with a nice gilded edge to the card – so simple but such a nice finish.

Sleeping George was stamped onto IndigoBlu Perfect White Stamping card then a touch of colour was added underneath him, to ground him.

I added a touch of glue to the crown and covered with Sheffield Steel flake, just as a highlight, and the Zzzz’s are from the Bear Hugs Stamp set.

The words are computer generated, printed onto white cardstock , cut out and mat onto black card. It doesn’t have to say tequila, it could be anything really ……. the favourite tipple of who you’re sending the card too perhaps.

The word ‘Floor’ has been added using a folded piece of acetate so that it moves a little!

And as always …… the insides been done to match

Hope you like it.  Do you know anyone who this would be perfect for?!

Well, that’s all from me today.  I’ve got an appointment with a large pumpkin that needs carving this afternoon.  Happy Halloween to those of you that celebrate All Hallows’ Eve.  It’s actually called Hop Tu Naa over in the Isle of Man, and they have turnips instead of  pumpkins.  I’m sticking to the pumpkin though, have you tried carving a turnip!!!

Don’t forget our Chocolate Orange challenge is up and running.  It seems like everyone’s finding this one a little difficult ……. there’s no entries on there yet.   Come on all you IndigoBlu fans out there ……. what’s wrong, don’t you use a lot of orange.   If not, it’s time to venture out of your comfort zone and try something different – go on ….. give it a go.  There’s a fab prize up for grabs …… but you have to be in it, to win it!

Thanks for popping by today.  Have a great week …. stay warm and keep crafting!

Cheerio for now

Linda  xx
