Oh Christmas Tree …….

Hi everyone,

What a week …… and it’s only Wednesday!!

A bit of a quick post from me today.  It’s crazy around here at the moment, we’re in the middle of getting our eldest offspring ready to go back to Uni on Friday this week.  The house looks like the day we moved in ……. boxes of stuff everywhere.  If washing and ironing was an Olympic sport then I’d have the gold medal!  And of course there’s all the shopping to do.  Never mind, it’ll all be worth it in the end.  It’s Chris’s final year so fingers crossed it’s a good one!

As you can imagine, there’s not a lot been done in the old craft room this week – except for packing up my craft trolley to take across to the UK with me!  So, I’ve got another of my Christmas samples to share with you, from Kay’s last C&C show ……….

It was another one of her demos, well sort of.  Kay added one of the MDF Baubles to the centre instead of the die cut.  A really nice idea, it makes the card into a gift as well.  If you use a repositionable adhesive to attach the MDF bauble, it can then be removed and hung on the tree.

I started with a square of perfect white stamping card, slightly smaller than 8×8.  I used a score board to add some embossed lines (about 4 or 5cms apart) towards the bottom of the card – just to highlight the stamped border a little.

The acutal border is just a strip of card, stamped using a couple of shades of purple ink and the gorgeous IndigoBlu Large Snowflake stamp.   I added just a touch of fine crystal glitter here and there to add a bit of sparkle, and inked the edges using Dusty Concord Distress ink.

For the main image, I stamped the IndigoBlu Ickel Christmas Tree across the centre of the card – three times, using  Imperial Purple Versafine ink,  first and second generation stamping.

I then stamped the image again onto a seperate piece of white card and cut this out using one of the Nestabilites  2011 Heirloom Ornaments dies.  It’s then been embossed and some shading added around the edge before removing the die.

A touch more glitter, some pretty gem stones and a nice satin bow finish off the bauble.  It’s then been attached over the top of the centre tree, using foam pads for a bit of dimension, and I added a row of pearls to ‘hang’ the ornament.

The whole thing’s then been mat onto a piece of purple card and attached to the front of an 8×8 cardblank.

You all know how I like to decorate the inside of my cards ……… for this one I used the Large Snowflake again (to match the border on the front) …….

and added the Dinky sentiment to the centre.  A touch of Dusty Conord Distress ink around the edges finishes everything off nicely.

Hope you like it.

Oh well, coffee break over.  Back to the packing!

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Cheerio for now

Linda xx
