Fun in the Sun

Good afternoon,

From a very sunny garden, in a hot and sticky Isle of Man.  Not that I’m complaining, far from it.  It’s nice to finally get summer. Let’s enjoy it!   We’ve actually got a bit of a cooling breeze today which is nice.  So, I’ve slapped on the old SPF 30 and I’m blogging in the sun!

It’s been a bit of a busy week in the old craft room, lots of projects on the go.   I’m slowly disappearing under Step by Step instructions and finished samples – well I’ve had to try them out haven’t I,  to make sure they worked.  Luckily, they’ve all been fine. It’s so hard explaining stuff on paper, I’m not very good at keeping things short and sweet ……… !  I’ve just got one more to go and then they can all be parcelled up and put in the hands of the Royal Mail – job done!

I’ve had a bit of a play this morning though.  A quick and easy summery card for you ……

All this sunny weather has really put me in the mood for bright and cheery colours, and seeing as I’ve been doing Christmas stuff this week, it made a nice change.

I started by stamping the Stylised Flowers onto a piece of Indigo Blu Perfect Stamping card, with Versamark ink and then used white embossing powder over the top, and heat set.

I then used Distress Inks to colour the background – Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean.  Once the card was covered with colour, I wiped over the embossed flowers with a piece of kitchen roll to remove any ink that was on them, and really make the white pop.  I then used one of my favourite techniques – spritz and splash!  I spritzed some water into the palm of my hand and then let it splash onto the card.  I let it sit for a few seconds then mopped up the excess using kitchen roll,  I love how the inks react with water, leaving that distressed look …..

The words are from the Hocus Pocus stamp set, and I’ve used Smokey Grey Versafine to stamp them with, instead of black, as I wanted a softer look …….

To finish off I added a touch of baby pink fine glitter to the flowers and added a large gemstone to the centre of one ……..

and added some white bakers twine to the bottom ……

A simple, yet pretty design, for all those summer birthdays.

Speaking of summer, don’t forget our current Forever 21 challenge is still open.  You have until next Saturday to get your Summertime entries in.

Well, that’s about it from me today.  It’s time for a bottle of something chilled and a chapter from my latest read before I go back to the old craft room ……

Thanks for popping by.  Have a great Wednesday, and enjoy the sun!

Cheerio for now
