How was your weekend ……..?

Hi everyone,

I’m back after my lovely long crafty weekend away.  It’s taking a while to get back into the swing of things, but I’m getting there.  It didn’t help the fact that I brought a nice little tummy bug back home with me.  The good thing was I didn’t start feeling ill until the Sunday afternoon when I was on my way home so it didn’t spoil my weekend.  I do feel sorry for the lady who was ill on the retreat though.  Hope you’re feeling better now.

Enough of all that …… what did we all get up to?  Well …… my Thursday and Friday last week were spent in the fabulous company of Kay Halliwell-Sutton, Sarah McCrossan and lots of lovely crafters.

Here we all are showing off our gorgeous designer aprons which were in our Goody Bags ….

We were at the Stephen Park Centre, right in the middle of Gisburn Forest.  And what a beautiful place it is.

We did have snow while we we up there – unfortunately we didn’t get snowed in! (shame)

It was 2 days of craft heaven.  The first part of Day One was spent with Sarah learning all about Art Journaling.   I only managed to finish 4 pages, must have been chatting too much!!

In the afternoon we made a lovely MDF box frame using the brand new ‘In Stitches’ stamps set.  This new set goes so well with the ‘Sewing Mends the Soul’.  I can see loads of new projects coming along.

We used the brand new Gee-Sso Good to paint the frame, added a touch of acrylic paint and then sanded the whole thing to get the vintage, worn look.

I added some faux stitiching around the edge to finish off.

Day Two was spent with Kay.  Lots of tips and techniques, and we got to use the new Kroma Crackle and the fabulous IceResin – I love this stuff!!

Here’s the beautiful memory frame we made ……… this was Kays ……

and this is mine ……..

The whole thing was done in white, and the colour was added at the end.  It did take us all day to complete, but it was worth every minute, look at all the detail…….

There’s a little bit of everything on here.  Painting with Gee-Sso, rubber stamping and colouring, using watercolour pencils, alcohol pens, pan pastels, you name we did it.

We used  the IceResin to make the bezels, Kroma Crackle on wooden shapes, moulds and plaster of paris to make beautiful detailed embellishments.

The whole thing was so much fun to put together, and once the boxes were full, everything was washed over again with Gee-Sso, then once dry, a touch of colour was added to highlight each area, and the outside frame was stamped with a touch more colour.

Kay’s asked me to do another one for her, and given me the choice of which stamps I use – I’m going to have sooo much fun!  Watch this space for the end result.

The next retreat was mentioned briefly – no dates as yet.  Keep an eye on the website for details.  I would recommend it to anyone.

Thanks to Kay, Sarah, and the Indigo Blu team for all their hard work and preparation, and to the staff at the Stephen Park Centre who worked so hard looking after us all.

Before I go, I just want to remind you that you’ve still got a few hours left to get your entries in for the first Indigo Blu Forever 21 Challenge.  It closes at 8.00pm tonight so get your skates on if you want to be in with a chance of winning the fabulous prize on offer.

Good luck to everyone who’s entered.

Thanks for popping by today.  Don’t forget we’ll have a brand new challenge for you tomorrow, so I’ll see you then.

Cheerio for now

Linda  xx
